  • The backer thickness should be as per the thickness of the face decorative. The board will have a tendency to crack if there is a major variation between the two

Backer Sheets must be bonded to an approved substrate (core). Core satisfactory for use with backer sheets include plywood, inorganic fiber board and metal. Fabrication should not be performed if temperature is lower than 21°C or relative humidity is below 35% or above 80%. Laminates and substrates should always be acclimated.

Fabrication can be accomplished with conventional woodworking or metalworking equipment, either manual or power driven. Sawing, drilling, edge filing, sanding and routing should be done with decorative side up to prevent cracking or chipping of the surface.

Curved edge should be cut slightly oversize and finished by sanding, filing, or routing for smooth edges using carbide tipped cutting edges on saws, drills and routers to produce chip free edges and to avoid frequent re-sharpening of tools. Drill with a wood backing to prevent breakout at the bottom of the drilled hole.
