Are you building your dream home and want to make sustainable choices? This blog post is for you! Let’s explore eco-friendly wardrobe materials and how Merino Laminates can help you create a sustainable closet through low-emission laminate options and recycled materials for wardrobes.

Why Eco-Friendly Wardrobes Matter

Sustainable choices contribute to a healthier planet. And when it comes to your wardrobe, this implies that you must opt for eco-friendly materials for your closets and cabinets. Merino Laminates prioritises sustainability throughout their manufacturing process which is highlighted through their program, Nirmal. Merino’s sustainability factors are ingrained in the Triple Bottom Line Framework, encompassing three key dimensions: environmental, social, and financial impacts.
Merino is committed to safeguarding the planet, fostering a positive impact on society, and generating profits through excellence and ethical practices while keeping the planet’s health at the core of all that they do.

Merino’s Commitment to Sustainability

● Energy & Resources: Merino Laminates fulfils almost 72% of its energy requirement through clean energy sources such as solar power and renewable sources like biomass & process waste to make eco-friendly wardrobe materials. Apart from dependence on clean, renewable energy sources, reduction of carbon footprint is also attempted at all the manufacturing facilities to produce Merino eco-friendly laminates.

● Water Management: Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Replenish, and Restore- this is the mantra to minimize the usage of water and manage it for best usage, which has helped them save 63815 KL of water annually. Apart from this, they have adopted reservoirs and installed groundwater recharge systems across all their locations, which has helped them to replenish & restore nearly 5,53,815 KL of water, thus achieving the goal of zero discharge and double recharge.

● Waste Management: They also follow extensive waste management practises at all their plants. The ash generated from boilers and incinerators, along with ash from NTPC power plant are used to manufacture bricks and tiles which are used for internal pavements inside the factory premises. During 2022-23, Merino produced 215 MT of bio manure by utilizing around 50 MT of paddy straw and 170 MT of other organic wastes like potato peel, biogas slurry, neem, sawdust, bio ash, and water. This manure is then used for sustainable agricultural practices thus creating a wholesome, balanced practice. These practices help ensure that the waste produced in the process of manufacturing is recycled and given back to the planet to enrich it.

● Forestry Practices: Merino Laminates sources wood from managed agro-forests, promoting sustainable forestry. One can also see lush vegetation and trees at all plants as Merino Laminates is zealous to contribute to afforestation and promotes plantation drives and development of “Green Belts” in and around their premises. During 2022-23, over 20,000 trees were planted across 5 manufacturing units of Merino located in India.
