At Merino Group, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our sustainability practices are deeply rooted in the Triple Bottom Line Framework, ensuring a balance between People, Planet, and Profit. With our ‘Environment First’ policy, we prioritize eco-friendly manufacturing, responsible sourcing, and energy-efficient processes.
Viewing environmental protection as an “inseparable part” of economic activity, Merino launched the ‘Nirmal’ programme to address the five key elements of nature — Bhūmih (soil), Apah (water), Analah (fire), Vayu (air), and Khang (space) — in a manner that aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Merino has made significant strides in water conservation, achieving approximately 75% water neutrality in 2023. Through innovative water-saving initiatives, we have consistently reduced our water consumption across all production processes since 2019. Furthermore, we have set an ambitious target to achieve 90% water neutrality by 2030.
Stubble burning is a significant environmental issue in North India. In collaboration with VNIT Nagpur, Merino has developed an innovative solution at the Merino Innovation Center. The process converts paddy straw into nutrient-rich compost using a patented microbial culture, offering an eco-friendly alternative to burning. This method not only prevents air pollution but also enhances soil health, improving the yield for the next crop by replenishing essential nutrients in the soil.
